Importance of Goals

If someone asks you whether you have set some goals for yourself? So according to me you can have only two answers - yes or no. If the answer is yes then it is a very good thing because most of the people are living their life without any definite goal and you are in a much better position than them. But if the answer is no then it is a matter of some concern. Partly because even if you don't have any goal right now, you can soon think and set a goal for yourself.

What are goals?

A goal is a task that we intend to accomplish.

Let's take some examples: - A student's goal may be: "To get more than 80% marks in the final exams." "An employee's goal may be to get promotion based on his performance. The goal of a housewife could be: “Starting a home based business.” A blogger's goal might be: "To take your blog's page rank from zero to three." ” A social worker's goal might be: “To make all the people in a village literate.”

Why is it important to have goals?

1) To move in the right direction:- When you leave home in the morning, you know where you want to go and you reach there. Imagine what you would do if you didn't know where you were going? Time will be wasted in wandering here and there. Similarly, in this life also, if you have not made goals for yourself, then your life will continue but when you look back later, you may regret that you did not achieve anything special.

When a person has a goal, he knows where to go. The goal gives a right direction to the person. Tells him which work is important for him and which is not. If the goals are clear then we prepare ourselves accordingly. Our subconscious mind inspires us to act accordingly. If the goal is clear in the mind, then the ways to achieve it also become clear and the person moves his steps in that direction.

2) To use one's energy properly:- God has given limited energy and limited time to man. Therefore it becomes important that we use it properly. The goal motivates us to do just that. If you do any work keeping your end-goal in mind, your concentration and energy level in it is much better.

For Example: When you go to a library without the intention of reading any particular book, you casually pick up a few books and turn their pages and read a few pages at a time. But if you go with the aim of completing a project report, then you choose relevant books and complete your work. In both the cases, you give the same amount of time but there is a huge difference in your efficiency. Similarly, in life also, if we do not have any definite goal in front of us, then we will keep wasting our energy and the result will not be anything special. But on the contrary, when we keep the goal in mind, our energy will be used in the right place and we will see the right results.

3) To be successful:- Whoever you ask says that he wants to become a successful person. But if you ask that after what happens he will consider himself a successful person, then very few people will be able to answer this with full confidence. The meaning of success is different for everyone and this meaning is determined by the goal itself. So if you do not have any goal then you may be successful in the eyes of others but how will you decide in your own eyes whether you are successful or not? For this you will have to see the target set by yourself.

4) To remove the contradictions in your mind: - Many opportunities keep coming and going in our life. No one can take advantage of all the opportunities even if one wants to. Sometimes we have to say yes and sometimes no to opportunities. In such a situation, it is natural for such situations to arise when we are unable to decide what we should do. In such situations, your goal can guide you.

I find these statements absolutely appropriate. So if you have not set any goal for yourself yet, then start thinking in this direction. Make goals, make big goals, and die only after achieving them!

Quote by Arnold H Glasgow - In life, as in football, you cannot progress unless you know your goal.

Mahatma Gandhi's quote - "If you want to achieve your goals, you should not be afraid of failure, but there should be no fear of any inability to achieve the goal."

Swami Vivekananda's quote - "Your goals should be good not only for you but also for those around you."

Swami Chinmayanand's statement - "The person who is after his goal, finds himself in the perfect place."

FitzHugh Dodgson's quote - "Without goals and plans to accomplish them, you are like a ship destined for no destination."
